Staff willingness to help in any way. Any problems were dealt with whenever possible in a friendly and helpful manner. Chef very good providing excellent food in restaurant and at function. Reception staff were also outstanding. All the staff pulled together to service 4 functions at once, though this was a function too many in the circumstances. Can understand why chef and manager needed Sunday off - I felt tired watching them! Feel many previous adverse comments unnecessarily harsh, asking at the time would be much better than complaining later.
This is a 3 star hotel, with some areas needing tweaking. Starlite function room needs updating. Lift was quite an experience, especially as we were on the 4th floor, and it couldn't reach the top if any of 4 passengers were large ! I appreciate a new lift would be very expensive. Didn't like breakfast arrangements as room was too dark and claustrophobic, upstairs would be much better. Difficult to find some rooms.
The room was clean
The reception staff couldn't find the booking, when they did they tried to charge £75, not £50 as Printed on the booking confirmation. The room was tiny with only just enough room to squeeze round the bed. There was only one towel in the room.
Great room and facilities for the price
The night I stayed there was a wedding on, which meant there were children running up and down the hall outside & it was very loud. This wasn't the fault of the Connaught, but perhaps they could have put us in a room further away from the wedding celebrations.
The restaurant (evening meals) was AMAZING!!! We would definitely return there for the food! Staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was not as clean as it could have been- it felt like things needed a bit of a scrub to clean them up properly (windowsill, bathroom). The "double room" was actually two single beds pushed together, but it wasn't really a problem, it worked.
Our room had an uneven floor and doors, nothing closed properly, didn't use the bathroom - waited till we got home the following day! Most of the woodwork had nails sticking out off it!!!!!!!!! Website pictures are nothing like the hotel really is - totally misleading. Would not book again.
It was very good value for money, the staff were polite and helpful, the bed was comfortable and there was plentiful hot water. From our point of view, it is five minutes away from where we were working (and where we will continue to be working on and off over the next several weeks). Car parking is good and the breakfast was nice, especially the sausages!
Next time I stay with you, I'd like to be able to have marmalade with my toast please!
Staff were clueless, unfriendly and unhelpful. When I checked in, she couldn't find my booking and asked if my name was Gillian (it's Andrew ffs!) and there were two others sat down who had the same problem - she couldn't find their bookings. Then as I was going upstairs (lift out of order!) a chap came down and was furiously demanding his money back. Not impressed at all!
There was no heating in the rooms, the music in the reception was so loud we weren't able to have a decent conversation and the staff weren't at all professional
Poor parking, double bed was in fact 2 single beds of different heights with hard ridge between, able to hear conversations in next door room, room doors slam so awoken by other guests several times during night, problem with water system - frequently very loud noise for about 15 seconds, in-room information told me to dial '0' for reception but no phone in my room, could not read terms and conditions when booking in because the stamp that had been used to put them on paper was obviously faulty anf only touching the paper around the it's edges............
Good value/location for my needs.
My one night stay was spoiled because the hotel: a). failed to give me an opportunity to cancel given that they were aware there was a large wedding party in their function room that night. b). more importantly - they then allocated us a room immediately above the function room. The radiators and furniture were literally jumping in time to the music which went on to 1 a.m.. c). The plumbing was noisy beyoond reason - any toilet flushed in the buidling caused a loud noise like a dying cow! To be fair - I was re-allocated a 'distant' room on complaining at 11p.m.
Restaurant and staff very good.
4Th floor room when arrived lift not working. Radiator in room barely warm - made noises every so often which sounded like a bucket being filled with water. Believe needed bleeding. When chained was pulled in toilet a loud noise came from the cistern and shook the bathroom for about 2 minutes. The second day late afternoon pulled chain and the noise was like a ship's funnel and not only the bathroom shook but also the room itself behind the headboard. I went outside the room and it would appear the whole system was vibrating in the 'ballroom'. We informed reception and went out.
Absolutely nothing at all.
The double bed was two singles pushed together. When trying to order room service for food we get told the restaurant is closed because they have a function on. The room is very run down definitely requires a revamp. The bath and shower partisan was dirty and mouldy. All in all I won't be staying there again.
The price, the location and the staff.
The noise from the concert room made the room shake, the rooms weren't very sound proof (you could here all the sounds from the adjacent rooms), just two milk for the hot drink facility wasn't enough, the reception and picture quality on the tv was very poor and breakfast was advertised has a buffet but wasn'T.
The staff were very friendly
During my stay there was a problem with the boiler and we had no hot water or heating all afternoon (in November). I asked the staff to let me know when it was back on by ringing my room as I was waiting to get ready which they didn'T. When I finally ran the bath 3 times the water was dirty. I complained in the morning upon check out and was told it wod be passed to management, however 3 days after leaving I have heard nothing. Would not go back.
The hotel is good value for money. The Americano restaurant is good .
No complaints really , the price is good for what you get. They are obviously slowly rennovating the hotel as the rooms are 'a bit tired' - generslly good value for money.
